Sweet About Me- Musical Analysis

Sweet About Me is Australian singer-songwriter Gabriella Cilmi's debut single from the album Lessons to be Learned (2008). 

Sweet About Me is a pop song featuring several elements of soul and doo-wop. Cilmi's vocals vary throughout the song; singing coarsely through the verses but 'sweetening' in the chorus.

According to Cilmi herself, the lyrics represent having fun making mistakes while learning from them at the same time.

What do you like the least about your favourite artist?
There really isn't much I dislike about Taylor Swift. The only aspect in this case is Swift's continuous topic of song writing.

Though not all of Swift's songs are about love, this topic is dominant across all of her songs. Swift adds lots of personal emotion into her well-written songs- it would be very interesting to see songs of other topics.

Taylor Swift

Who is my favourite artist and why?
One of my most favourite music artists is Taylor Swift. I enjoy her songs because Swift shares her personal experiences through lyrics: feelings that many people can relate to.
Her songs are also 'clean' and 'radio-friendly' so people of any age can listen to.

I think she is a talented, passionate songwriter. At just age 12, Swift composed her first song titled Lucky You. A second song, The Outside, was written one year later.


I personally also see her as a role model because she suffered bullying from peers during her teen years and has risen to become a 'fearless' young woman, standing as one of today's most successful music stars.
